I trusted BetterHelp and they sold my personal information without my consent
BetterHelp, I trusted you. You used me. You profited off of my desire to get help when I had nowhere else to turn. I told you things I've never told anyone, traumas that still hurt to relive. You have the absolute gall to claim that you did nothing wrong. You make me sick, I'm ashamed that I ever turned to you for guidance. I used for years BetterHelp because I was in a difficult place and thought that they could help me. Turns out they used my personal information to advertising firms so I could my targeted by companies trying to exploit my insecurities. The only reason I found out about it is because they had to settle with the FTC and I got a credit to my PayPal account for $9.72 in June. I know you'll claim that this was the industry-standard and everyone else was doing it so why shouldn't you? Was it not enough that I paid hundreds each month? Could you not turn a profit honorably? When companies like you abuse the trust of vulnerable people, you make it harder for us to ever get better. My advice for anyone reading this: talk to your friends and family. It might be embarrassing at first but if they care about you they wont sell you out to Facebook and TikTok.

If you don't use it, the continously bill you, without caring if you are using them or not. I forgot I even had an account, they continued to bill me, and I am now out over thousands of dollars. Thanks so much for the emails to try and warn me. NOT! Now my mental health is worst than when I started.

Disappointing
I am overall disappointed with this app. It does not provide the same experience as seeing an actual therapist and often only offers 30-minute sessions with “therapists” who may not be fully qualified. Although you have the option to choose your “therapist”, you are charged for a full hour each time you speak to someone, yet the calls are limited to just 30 minutes. After exchanging pleasantries, the therapist usually reminds you that there isn't much time left, which prevents you from effectively working through your issues. The app is glitchy, overcharges users, and most of the “therapists” are based in the U.S., making it difficult to provide accurate support for international clients. Yet BetterHelp has no problem taking your money without disclosing these limitations. This organization seems to be profiting from those in need of support instead of improving their system to genuinely assist individuals seeking help and providing the necessary tools. Additionally, customer service often ignores complaints and fails to offer any assistance.

Seems like it would be a great service im having financial issues onto of alot of other issues they tried to be accommodating which was nice but 3 to 4 emails a day to try and get to go through with the program was too much, like I haven't even paid you yet and your trying to force me to do the therapy I would not have gone through the set up for the app if I had known this wish they just gave the costs upfront

I do not recommend this unless you have no other choice. Be firm on asking for therapist choices and some be afraid to change and ask for more options. She was a senior citizen (which honestly I didn't mind and figured she would have lots of experience) and there were many issues but she didn't understand the tech. She somehow ended the call and when it returned her husband was the one on camera and he spoke to me, which startled me (hello, HIPAA violation). I want my money back.

Technical difficulties and sometimes no shows, probably better for those with just mild issues

I would love to use this app because I really need it, but I still can't afford it. Even after financial aid is applied. As a low income worker with no upward mobility, it's still out of my range. I wish I could get more help😢😢

PROFESSIONAL HELP, PERSONALIZED FOR YOU
Facing obstacles alone can be daunting – receiving support and guidance from a professional therapist has been shown to make huge, positive changes to help you overcome personal challenges. When you sign up we’ll match you to an available therapist based on your needs, preferences, and location. Different therapists have different approaches and areas of expertise so we’ll work with you to find the right person who can achieve the best results for you.

LICENSED AND TRAINED THERAPISTS
There are over 30,000 therapists on BetterHelp, each with at least 3 years and 1,000 hours of hands-on experience. They are licensed, trained, experienced, and accredited psychologists (Ph.D./PsyD), marriage and family therapists (MFT), clinical social workers (LCSW), licensed professional therapists (LPC), or similar credentials.

All of our therapists have a Master’s Degree or a Doctorate Degree in their respective fields. They have been qualified and certified by their state professional board and have completed the necessary education, exams, training, and practice.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
After filling out our questionnaire, you will be matched with a licensed therapist based on your needs, preferences, and location. You and your therapist will get your own “therapy room” where you can message your therapist at any time, from any internet-connected device, wherever you are. You can also schedule a weekly session to speak live with your therapist over video or phone.

You can write or talk about yourself, the things going on in your life, ask questions, and discuss the challenges you’re facing and your therapist will provide feedback, insights, and guidance. This ongoing one-on-one dialogue is the foundation of your work with your therapist.

Together you’ll work towards making a positive change in your life, accomplishing your goals, and overcoming your problems.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
The cost of therapy through BetterHelp ranges from $60 to $90 per week (billed every 4 weeks) but may be higher based on factors like your location, preferences, and therapist availability. Unlike traditional in-office therapy which can cost over $150 for a single session, your BetterHelp membership includes unlimited text, video, audio messaging as well as weekly live sessions. The subscription is billed and renewed every 4 weeks and includes both the use of the secured site and the therapy service itself. You can cancel your membership at any time for any reason.
