It's mostly convenient, but the company itself is not ideal. It's a good choice for a person financially challenged, but considering the rumors about being a bad faith insurance company and changing price every month without an explanation, if you manage to get to financial stability, get better coverage.

Broken app, I enter my login credentials and it says that it's invalid. I enter same info everywhere else and it works just fine. Don't waste your time on this app

Refuses to allow me to make necessary changes. Forces me to call support. Edit: I have called. Your support couldn't fix it. Not to mention your system telling me when I checked my address that my rate would NOT change....it did ANYWAY. I hate noticing changes after my rates have already been set. My rate didn't go up until you guys threatened to cancel my policy and then decided not to when I provided proof. Get it together.

Multiple years with the general
It's 2024 almost 2025 and the general has 0 ways of letting you know that your payment is late or they haven't received a payment when it's due other then just sending mail that your policy is going to be cut off. How hard is it to send a message through the app or an email? I've given general 10,000 plus dollars over many many years and they just don't care about loyalty or helping

Dont rush and select the right policy
Great customer service, nice app and good policy pricing. Pray to god you never need to file a claim. I filed a claim, and was labeled “not at fault” it was apparently marked as “act of nature” that I had hit a dead deer left on the middle of the highway from someone previous who didn't report it at 3am. Let me make this very clear, I followed the process by the rules all the way through, it took 3 months to get the adjuster to made a decision, they never came out and were extremely rude and hard to contact as they send you to voicemail and promise to reach out but never do. Sylvia, Brian DiLiberto was the adjusters. I switched bc Brian was very rude, I had to get a supervior involved. This whole issue was a massive headache and they never came to take pictures or inspect and only returned my calls after I waited days on end and got a supervisor involved. The outcome, because they wouldn't come themselves, I had to send pictures and they closed the claim saying the damages weren't covered. Super shady, wouldn't let me take it to get an inspection to send an actual report of damages to them. Nope, just some pictures and that was enough for them to close out the claim. I paid all the costs out of pocket. Horrible customer service and horrible adjustments. I should have gotten a lawyer and sued.

Couldn't get a 4 day extension on my insurance til my payday was five stars now 1 I will find a more understanding insurance company and the general has lost a customer permanently...
