Messaging
I have numerous issues using these features. 1. I cannot send a message to my primary care physician. His supervisor, who is not on my care team list, but does my appointments, referrals, prescriptions, lab work, MyChart doesn't let me contact him. 2. I don't have the ability to edit my pharmacy choice per medication. 3. My pharmacists interpret “refill” as “renew” and thus won't refill it even though the prescription is valid (has refills available, seen by your physician in the last year). 4. I have no way to add an immunization to MyChart. Even though the pharmacy informs the provider it has administered the vaccine. 5. My insurance company can't access my list of medical conditions, test results, and thus sends a nurse practitioner to re-examine me and send me urine and blood self draw kits. It appears that MyChart is a database management system with constraints added controllable by different groups of skills based on a specific patient and who he or she allows to access. Your system needs to be patient oriented for patients and their family, medical professional or their staff oriented, and support companies oriented (pharmacies, physical therapy groups, medical equipment store, etc.). A database management system is not a good foundation for a tool like yours. None of the groups I listed seems to be able to communicate with each other very well. I don't want to be the intermediary for all of my medical needs.
