Won’t update
Won't open without an update. But won't update. So basically this app no longer functions at all.

Unable to stop auto play on video
Deleting this app because of the constant videos playing. Mostly bad ads. But even the content provided cannot be set to not automatically play. Have to use reader view in the web.

The navigation could be a little better. I consistently have trouble finding my saved/bookmarked articles. Although, it could be that I'm looking in the right place, but the API service returning my list of articles is slow to load and therefore gives me the false impression that I'm looking in the wrong place.

You stole my money for ages because your idiotic system somehow creates/allows multiple subscriptions with the same account/email. Refusing to return my money makes you thieves in my book. Such dishonesty in your business practices calls into question your integrity as a whole.

Home page takes about 10-15 seconds to load every time I open the app. Very frustrating.

Can’t use it anymore
Can't use the app on my phone anymore since it's required to have iOS 16 or higher now. Thanks for contributing to software obsolescence just to read a newspaper that I subscribe to…

This review is for the app itself and not the content, but I have the same complaint as many others. The "Today" feed, after months, still takes an excessive amount of time to load (30-60 seconds). If you're the NYT you're held to a high standard, and this classifies as a broken app imo.

So slow. This app consistently takes 30+ seconds to simply load the news each time I open it. Then it likes to randomly refresh and reorder the news while I'm using it - so it's hard to pick up where I left off while reading through the day's stories. I like the personalized news feed but there aren't enough options of topics to include. Offline is infuriating. I downloaded multiple stories to read on airplane mode on my last trip. But once in airplane mode, I couldn't access them.
