Summary of the app says location is optional, but it actively prevents you from connecting a device unless it's turned on. The device itself doesn't let you set certain features without the app, and it's obviously an intentional design decision to get more user data by forcing people to download the app and then not actually making the permissions optional.

Using this app to control a Samsung OLED is my personal hell. I can open it 3-5 times in. Row and it doesn't do anything. Pretty worthless when it only works 10% of the time.

It says that your device is not compatible with this version. I used the app on the same phone and when I tried to reinstall it after resetting the phone, it said that it was not compatible. My phone model is Galaxy S8.
