Crazy fees. Say you got a potential 3 hour job. Give or take $200 take. you're competing with 2 other contractors. thumbtack charges each one for us $45, but only one of us will actually be chosen by the customer. You end up paying $100-200 per customer per new job. The only winner here is thumbtack. The upside is that if this customer likes you, it may just work out well for you, but honestly it should be cheaper. for both clients and us.

I use this app as a pro. Some of the leads I believe are bots. They're unresponsive in the app and supply fake numbers. Feels like the is scamming you at times for pros. Customers can reach out to an unlimited amount of pro at the same time for the same lead, and we all get charged even when the customer can only pick one.

An app that charges you only for sending a message and people never respond, they should sue this app for creating fake people and charging PROs

Such a scam. The lead price is outrageous. 40% and up most times. HALF! The business model even has customers unknowingly charge multiple pros by asking them to pick several choices (because each time a pro gets contacted they get charged.) That means thumbtack makes money every time, and maybe 1 out of 3 pros contacted might get the job. It's online window shopping except it cost you money just to have a customer look at you. Thumbtack please don't respond with the copy paste corporate bull. Don't respond at all. This is just a warning for pros to be careful not to get robbed.

Recently, there has been a practice where clients blackmail Pro with reviews. I have been working for myself for three years now and I know every client. Now I see that they give one star and then say I will fix it if you return the money. I offered a return visit, I offered a repeat diagnostics because I know that the equipment works. The last straw was when the client wrote after 6 months that I demand a refund for the repair of the refrigerator 6 months ago. According to him, his refrigerator broke a week after the repair and stood for 6 months without working. He said let me come to you and do diagnostics because we value every client, but he refused and asked for the money back. ThumbTack made a claim and said that I was wrong. This is dishonest business on the part of Thumbtack. I am leaving.
