using qr scan within the app didn't work had to use external one. A lot of back and forth. A lot of messing about when could be alot simplier of just type in passport number, to bring you up and then submit a selfie.

Way too complicated
This is THE most complicated method I have ever come across to simply check my details. I cannot imagine most elderly people would have any of the details or be tech savvy enough to finish this process.

it's a hell of a lot of security checking just to pay a small amount of tax , why so much security? has taken up half my day with app freezing etc , perhaps government should attach more security when actually trying to get free money as if they did we wouldn't hear of cases of people and gangs stealing millions from the coffers , absolute joke of a country now UK is .

Good luck! Your going to need it when trying to use a camera on the highly reflective surface of the photo passport page, it's as though the passport office made it so reflective it was designed to prevent anyone being able to photograph it. Then for fun and a good laugh the gov.uk people ask you to photograph it knowing it would be almost impossible or would take the patience of a sloth to do it. Either that or they are both incompetent!

The GOV.UK ID Check app lets you confirm your identity online, so you can securely access certain government services. The app works by matching your face to your photo ID. Before you start You can use any one of the following: • a valid UK photocard driving licence • a valid passport with a biometric chip • a valid UK biometric residence permit (BRP) You will need: • a well-lit area so that you can take a good quality photograph • an iPhone 6s or higher • iOS 13 or higher How it works If your photo ID is a driving licence you will: • take a photo of your driving licence • scan your face using your phone If your photo ID is a passport you will: • take a photo of your passport • scan the biometric chip in your passport using your phone • scan your face using your phone If your photo ID is a BRP you will: • take a photo of your BRP • scan the biometric chip in your BRP using your phone • scan your face using your phone What happens next The app only helps confirm your identity. You will return to the website of the government service you were accessing to view the results of your identity check. Privacy and security Your personal information will not be stored in the app, or on the phone when you finish using it. We collect your data securely and delete it when it is no longer needed.
